Moriah Markowitz
Moriah Markowitz is a dance choreographer, dance teacher, and certified yoga instructor based in New York. She received her BFA in Dance from the University at Buffalo. After receiving her degree, she has showcased her work in multiple venues/festivals including but not limited to: The American College Dance Association, Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, Dare2Dance, Dance Parade NYC, Peridance’s APEX Dance Festival, DUMBO Dance Festival, and Eryc Taylor Dance NCG.
In addition to her contemporary concentration as a choreographer, she also explores movement in other genres and enjoys creating fusions inspired by jazz, contemporary, modern, tap, ballet, musical theatre, and street styles. Traveling throughout the East Coast, Moriah has choreographed and taught master classes at multiple locations and studios, hoping to create a safe space for dancers to explore.
As she found her love for choreography, Moriah created a New York based contemporary dance company for BFA college graduate level dancers titled “The Mo.vement.” Within the company, Moriah hopes to continue to create an environment which guides dancers to an immeasurable amount of growth and inspiration.
While teaching In the classroom, Moriah loves to educate students of proper muscle engagement and deepening their creative mind. Recently, Moriah has performed in various dance on film projects, worked closely with Hayden J. Frederick and Cat Cogliandro as an assistant at Broadway Dance Centre, and was a selected dancer for Peridance’s Performance Project with choreographer Emily Greenwell.
