Age Requirements
All Ages are calculated as of January 1st of that competing year. The only exception to this rule applies to our One Day Workshop AMBITION, where the Age is caculated at the time of the event.
Average Age Calculation (Duos, Trios, Groups & Productions)
To calculate the average age of a routine:
Add the ages of all artists in the routine.
Divide by the total number of artists.
Drop the decimal point (do not round).
Example:
An average age of 11.8 is entered as 11.
The average age of a routine may not fall more than one age division below the age of the oldest artist, regardless of the calculated average.
Example:
If a routine includes artists ages 10 through 18, the routine must compete in the 12–14 age division, which is one division younger than the oldest artist (18).
If any artist substitutions are made, the routine’s average age must be recalculated prior to competing.
NOTE:
If a routine includes any dancer age 20 or older, the routine will automatically compete in the Pre-Professional Division, regardless of the calculated average age.
The only exception to this rule applies to the Production Category.
