Performance Experience Level Guidelines To ensure fair and appropriate competition, World-Class Talent Experience, Inc. provides the following performance experience level guidelines to assist studio directors and instructors in placing artists correctly. Definition of Weekly Instruction “Weekly instruction” is defined as a scheduled weekly dance technique class that focuses on technical training within a specific dance style. Rehearsal-only classes are not considered weekly instruction. Performance Experience Levels Recreational Level Designed for artists who: Are enrolled in two (2) or fewer hours of weekly instruction Have little to no competitive dance experience Additional Guidelines: Artists in this division are not eligible for cash prizes. Top scores and overall awards will be presented. All dancers in a routine must be registered as Recreational to compete in this division. Mixed-level routines are not permitted in the Recreational division. The 50% majority rule does not apply to Recreational routines. Any routine containing a non-Recreational dancer must compete in the Intermediate or Advanced division. Intermediate Level (World) Designed for artists who: Are enrolled in three (3) to five (5) hours of weekly instruction Have limited competitive dance experience Additional Guidelines: Artists in this division are not eligible for cash prizes. Top scores and overall awards will be presented. Artists registered in the Intermediate division may not compete in the Recreational division. For mixed-level routines (Intermediate & Advanced), placement will be determined by the 50% majority rule. Advanced Level (Class) Designed for artists who: Are enrolled in more than five (5) hours of weekly instruction Have significant studio training and competitive dance experience Additional Guidelines: Artists registered in the Advanced division may not compete in the Recreational division. For mixed-level routines (Intermediate & Advanced), placement will be determined by the 50% majority rule. Level Placement Policies Any dancer registered to compete in ten (10) or more routines at a WCTE event will be required to compete in the Advanced (Class) division. Routines entered in the Pointe category may compete only in the Intermediate (World) or Advanced (Class) divisions. Any artist performing more than one solo must enter all solos in the same performance experience level. Artists may elect to compete up to a higher performance experience level at their discretion. Mixed-Level Routines Duets: If a duet includes dancers from different experience levels, the routine must compete in the higher of the two levels. Trios, Groups & Productions: Routines with three (3) or more artists will compete based on the 50% majority rule. Level Reclassification & Enforcement Routines that are clearly misclassified may be reassigned to a different experience level at the sole discretion of the adjudication panel. Scores will not be affected by a level reassignment. This policy will be strictly enforced to maintain competitive integrity. Regional & National Consistency The experience level competed at a Regional Event will remain the same for the National Event. If a routine is reclassified (“bumped”) by the adjudication panel at a Regional Event, the routine must compete in that level at Nationals. If the composition of a routine changes, the experience level must be re-evaluated and recalculated for Nationals.
